Large fish are what the main target is while big-game fishing, hence the name. Obviously this wasn't much of a sport until after the motorized boat was invented. This actually became a sport after a marine biologist was catching fish to examine out in the ocean. This marine biologist is known as Dr. Charles Frederick Holder. The main species of fish that are being caught by today's fishermen include sharks, billfish, and large tunas. Often times, smaller fish that are caught are saved and used for bait.
